"The family, as we have traditionally known it, is such a refuge of safety. When true values and basic virtues undergird the families of society, hope will conquer despair, and faith will triumph over doubt". President Thomas S. Monson

Stake Celebration

A 10 year Legacy Celebration in our NorthField Stake. The theme: Remembering our Past and Securing our Future. For those of you not familiar with the church and what a stake is. Let me give a brief description. Others can skip this part if they like.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints organizes it's members into congregations that meet together frequently for spiritual and social enrichment. Large Congregations are called Wards. Each ward comprises a specific geographic area. Most geographic areas where the church is organized is divided into stakes. There are usually 5-12 wards in a stake. There are I believe 7 wards in our stake, and all of those wards are within a 1/2 mile radius due to to the high membership here in Utah. The word Stake comes from the prophet Isaiah, who prophesied that the latter-day church would be like a tent, held secure by stakes.
The celebration is to appreciate the legacy and history of our area here in Pleasant Grove, to unify and strengthen our families, to remember our ancestors, and plan for the future. They had lots of activities and entertainment going on, here are some of the things we did.

Me and my girls. They had two tables full with desserts. The girls and I made chocolate fudge cupcakes. They were gone in minutes. Here is Briana digging in.

The Live Music
The parachute game. Alicia was trying to show Addy what to do and get her use to playing the game.
Addy wanted mommy to play with her.
This is the candy cannon. Addy didn't like this since it made a loud BOOM! But her and Alicia stood by the crowd to see if they can get some candy. Later, Alicia and Briana stood in the crowd with their friends, and got lots of candy. At dark they gave an excellent firework show. Addy was playing with the phone saying "hello" before it started.

The fireworks were awesome! We were very impressed, and we had the BEST spot on the grass. Addy wasn't too happy. She hasn't yet figured out depth perception, and she hates the noise. She would turn her head and cry, but she got use to it after we started naming the colors. She knows her colors and she can count too.

We have more firework shows to see throughout the summer. I can't wait! We have a holiday coming up on the 24th, plus the different local city's will have them as well. Check back soon. We still have lots to do this summer.
