"The family, as we have traditionally known it, is such a refuge of safety. When true values and basic virtues undergird the families of society, hope will conquer despair, and faith will triumph over doubt". President Thomas S. Monson

CTR (Choose The Right) Towel

Just this past April David's niece just turned 8 years old. This was a special year, the time to be baptised and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I wanted to make her something that she would love and remember on that special day.

So I saw this very cute idea of a baptism towel online. It came with the template, and a cute little poem. The fabric I used I had left over from something else I had made.(good thing her favorite color was pink) =) So I really only needed the towel for this project. Walmart has nice big towels like this for only $4.oo. After finishing I wrapped it with a bow and sent it off to North Carolina. (where she lives) It turned out way cute. I was glad that she loved it and that she used it on her special baptism day. I can't wait to do more of them, and for all my girls when they are baptised.

The Poem reads:

This baptism towel is to remind you

Of your baptism days all the years through.

When you come out of the water all clean and pure,

Dry off with this towel and you can be sure,

That you are as clean as this towel is white

And the Holy Ghost will be with you both day and night.

For the Holy Ghost is your gift after the laying on of hands,

And will be a comfort and a guide if you obey God's commands.

This CTR emblem will help remind you to be strong

As you continue to learn right and wrong.

When your towel becomes soiled, remember that we, too,

May sometimes make mistakes and we've been taught just what to do.

Just as you can wash your towel so it can again be clean,

The wrongs you make can be washed away and never again be seen.

Your Heavenly Father loves you, remember always to pray,

And he will be beside you for forever and a day.

Sewing with the girls

We had a Young Women and Relief Society combined Activity for the week the girls were here. I was so excited for this event and couldn't wait. At the Activity we enjoyed a nice dinner, dessert and a lesson on Safety Awareness.... then we all picked a station, weather it was sewing knitting or crocheting. The girls and I picked the sewing station, as most of the Young Women did, and all the moms were helping there daughters to make skirts. All of the girls brought their own fabric, and the church provided the waist bands. They have always wanted to learn how to sew. And just recently I have taken up sewing as a fun hobby and have loved it. So to share in this with my daughters was awesome for me. I am so glad that I was able to teach them some things about sewing, and for them to enjoy it.
Here is Alicia sewing the hem on the bottom of her skirt. We had to finish them at home. I wish I would have remembered to take more pictures.

This is a picture of Briana's Skirt. Both girls picked out their own fabric.

Repurposed Dress for Madison

I did this awhile ago... Sorry but I am kinda behind in posting.
A friend of mine gave me a few shirts she got from a yard sale. She wasn't going to use them since she doesn't have girls so she gave them to me knowing I would probably like to convert them into dresses for my girls. It was a little challenging since I had to cut the shirt in different pieces then sew it back together to fit little Madison. But it came out so cute. I can't wait to do more.
Doesn't she look cute?
Here is what the shirt looked like before. It is a size 10 girls size. And this is what is looks like after. I made the arms longer since I had the left over fabric to work with.I like the way they turned out.

I have more dresses I am going to do... but just got caught up working on different things. Right now it's hair bows. Pretty soon I will post some pics of those too.

Nursing Covers

This has been a fun project for me. A friend asked me after seeing my nursing covers on facebook if I make them. I told her i didn't and I just made them for a few friends that were having baby's. But when I got thinking more about it.. I thought it would be a good idea. So I asked her if she would like me to make her one. She wanted one for her sister in law that loved this type of scull fabric. I had like 3 to choose from in the store and chose the cutest one. She loved it.
So if you are looking to give a great baby or shower gift.... just let me know and I make one for you. If you are picky about a fabric... just let me know what that fabric is, and I will try my best to get find it and do it for you. I will be selling these for $25 which includes the pocket on the back side, and a burp cloth for wiping mom or baby on the other side. If you don't want these two items. The nursing cover alone is $22. This is a pretty good deal since these now cost around $35 to 45 dollars.

This is the burp cloth for wiping mom and baby. I use a baby wash cloth.
Here is the pocket for putting maybe your nursing pads while nursing. I know mine always got lost. Either they fell between the couch, or on the floor or something. So This could come in handy.
Here is a closer view of the neck strap. It is adjustable and sturdy.

This one is still for sale. It is $22.. It doesn't have the pocket or the cloth.

This is the first one I made for friend's baby shower.
This is the second one I made for a friend.
So spread the word...tell your friends... tell your family. They are great for any new mom, baby shower, or gift for anyone you know having a having a baby.
Also check out my onesies for boys.

other stuff I''ve made

From recent to oldest.
Even though I don't have boys.. YET. These make cute gifts.. until maybe we do. So easy to make and fun. So if you want one of these cute baby onsies. Just let me know and I can make one for you.
I thought I would make use of Adelynn's old clothes in a different way. This was an old dress of Adeylnn's that was stained blue on the top. The shirt was too short on the bottom and would ride up on the belly. So I combined the two together making a cute casual dress.
I made the fabric flower and added it to make it look less plain. I have a few more of these reporposed dresses I'm working on now.... using old tops. Will post them when I'm done.
These made cute Christmas gifts for the grandparents. Made on 4x4 tile. So cute, easy and way fast. Tutorial is on U-create on my blog.

Here is one of all the girls. Me and the girls made one together for their Dad as well, but I don't have a picture. But we used their Army picture I took of them at the train station that came out great last year. We made it a 8x10 tile since they look smaller in that picture. Their Dad loved it... and we had fun making it together.
This I made awhile ago. It's a baby tag crinkle toy.... Madison just loved it.
I made a few other things as well.. but didn't take pictures. I am having fun being more creative, and learning to do and make more things. Stay tuned for more later. I have lots still on my to do list.
